How to Surf

Firstly you have to know if you'll be a regular or goofy surfer (which foot to put in front on the board). The easy way to do this is to stand up straight and let some body push you forward, the foot you put down first is the foot you'll have in front on the baord.

Now its time to pratice the pop up (standing up on the baord). Lay your board flat on the sand and lay face down on to it with your hands on the sides of the board and your legs slightly over hanging the back. Then in one motion push yourself up with your hands, pull your legs up under your body and take the surf stance (one foot in front of the other standing sideways to the board). Now your standing on the baord, practice this a few times before entering the surf.

Attach the leash from the board around your ankle and your now ready for a few small waves. Pick up your board and walk out in to the sea so the waves are about waist height. Now lay on the baord as you'd been practicing on the beach. When you see a wave coming towards your turn and face the shore and paddle with your arms as fast as you can so you move with the wave. When you feel the force of the wave pushing you to shore stand up as you'd practised on the shore! Use your arms to help you balance, if you don't catch the wave then just keep trying. The more you practice the easier it is to pick out the right waves.
