Skimboarding

Throw it, chase it and ride it!

Skimboards

Skimboards are normally made of wood (for a classic look) or plastic, both types work perfectly well so just choose which ever looks best to you. Prices vary from 20 pounds to 100+ pounds, if your new to boarding your best spending about 30-40 pounds and getting something that wont break on you. The boards are normally very strong and should last you a lifetiime!.

How to Skimboard

Skimboardings probably the easiest to learn but can be the most painful. First thing to do is find some nice shallow water a few centimetres deep. Hold your board to your side, and then throw it forawrds so it skims fast across the water. Now quickly chase the board and jump on to it both feet landing on the board at the same time.

If you stay on then your skim boarding, if you fall off (ouch!!) then try again. The faster you release the board the further you'll skim. As you get more adventurous start skim boarding towards the waves, if you get good enough you can actually ride the waves close to the shoreline!
